Commercial Arbitration Competition "Arbitration Lawyer"
On June 17, 2023, LEX Law Firm took an active part in the Competition of the International Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic (hereinafter referred to as “IAC at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic”) in commercial arbitration “Arbitration Lawyer”, in which some of the best law firms of the Kyrgyz Republic competed . This event was held at the IAC office at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The competition lot was devoted to the most relevant and interesting issues of arbitration from a practical point of view, including: the possibility of appealing against decisions of a permanent arbitration body in courts of general jurisdiction, the problem of considering an arbitral award on new and newly discovered circumstances, approaches to calculating the arbitration fee on a non-property claim, and also a number of issues of substantive law on the significance of the pre-contractual stage and the application of the principle of commercial awareness in the course of the execution of the supply contract.
The participants of the competition developed arguments on controversial issues of the competition plot for the position of the plaintiff and the defendant under the Rules of the International Arbitration Court at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The teams presented their positions during a simulated court session in front of a procedural opponent and jury members - IAC arbitrators at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, leading representatives of legal science and invited experts.
The competition gave participants the opportunity to:
- take a fresh look at a number of topical problems in arbitration practice;
- meet with colleagues in an informal setting, conduct networking;
- compete for the title of "Best Arbitration Lawyer" according to IAC at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the results of the competition, the participants of the team of “Eco Passenger Transportation”, LLC (team captain - Tashiev Rustam Rakhimovich) became the winners. Our sincere congratulations to the winners of the competition!
