Official meeting on Intellectual Property Issues

Official meeting on Intellectual Property was held on March 18, 2022 at the Hyatt Regency Bishkek Hotel with the participation of the lawyer of the LEX Law Firm - Parizat Omurbekova, other members and partners of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Kyrgyz Republic, a representative of the U.S. Department of Justice and representatives of the U.S. Department of Commerce, as well as patent attorneys of the Kyrgyz Republic. The official meeting was coordinated by the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP) at the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Topics discussed included:

• trademark registration;
• protection of copyright in a judicial procedure;
• obstacles in registering a trademark, as well as in protecting copyrights;
• possible measures to solve the problems related to intellectual property rights.

As a result of the discussion LEX Law Firm made proposals on how to improve the system for the state authorities relating to issues of intellectual property rights and how to solve problems in this area.
