"Turkic Arbitration Association: Arbitration Retreat in Kyrgyzstan"

On September 15-16, 2024, LEX Law Firm participated in the event titled “Turkic Arbitration Association: Arbitration Retreat in Kyrgyzstan”, organized by the International Court of Arbitration at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic (ICA CCI). The event took place at the Orion Hotel in Bishkek.

The retreat was designed for practicing lawyers, legal advisors, lawyers from state bodies and enterprises, arbitrators, and academics from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and other countries, all aiming to enhance their skills in international arbitration.

The training sessions were led by internationally recognized arbitration lawyers, arbitrators, and representatives from arbitration institutions, all bringing years of experience in international arbitration.

The two-day intensive training program covered a wide range of topics, including the competence of the arbitral tribunal and the role of state courts, the complexities of problematic arbitration agreements, ethics and conflicts of interest, the application of foreign law and soft law tools in international arbitration, as well as challenges related to evidence and proof. Participants also explored issues arising from the non-participation of respondents and other intricate scenarios involving the parties.

At the conclusion of the training, representatives from LEX Law Firm – Managing Partner and Arbitrator Andrey Lee and Legal Director Alexander Sushko – were awarded certificates.
