Kyrgyz-Saudi Business Council: New Horizons for Cooperation

On August 27, 2024, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, in collaboration with the Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and Industry, hosted a significant event – the Kyrgyz-Saudi Business Council. This gathering brought together key representatives from the government and business sectors of both countries. Notable attendees included Adylbek Kasymaliev, First Deputy Chairman of the KR Cabinet of Ministers; Temir Sariev, President of the KR Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Ulukbek Maripov, KR Ambassador to Saudi Arabia; and Ahmed Al Dakhil, Chairman of the Saudi-Kyrgyz Business Council. The event was attended by over 50 companies, demonstrating a growing interest in strengthening economic ties between the Kyrgyz Republic and Saudi Arabia.
The event took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Bishkek. In his opening remarks, Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized the importance of this meeting in light of a new chapter in Kyrgyz-Saudi relations, which was initiated following the recent visit of KR President Sadyr Zhaparov to Saudi Arabia. The establishment of the Kyrgyz-Saudi Business Council represents a significant step towards deeper collaboration and opens up new opportunities for entrepreneurs from both nations.
Discussions during the event focused on potential cooperation in renewable energy and transportation infrastructure. In particular, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project, which aims to enhance access to the Persian Gulf, was highlighted. Saudi businessmen expressed interest in these initiatives and indicated their intention to visit various Kyrgyz enterprises to explore potential partnerships.
